verba volent, scripta manent – words flee, writing remains |
I'm a freelance editor who specializes in fiction—though I do not limit myself to fiction exclusively; variety is the spice of life, after all. For over fifteen years I have worked one-on-one with authors to prepare their manuscripts for publication in both American and Canadian markets, and I've edited and/or evaluated over one hundred novels and nonfiction books and countless short stories, cover letters, and synopses. A writer myself, I've written two novels and have a list of writing credits for poetry, articles, and short stories that spans twenty years and includes publications as diverse as Seventeen Magazine, Cats Magazine, Home Business Journal, The Writer, Inkspot, Writing-world.com, Tales of the Unanticipated, and Orpheus Romance. I'm an Affiliate Member of the SFWA (Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America) and a Voting Member in the Editors' Association of Canada. I have eight years' experience in commercial editing, working as an in-house proofreader at one of the top 100 commercial printers in Canada; thousands of greeting cards and myriad marketing materials, from coupons to catalogues hundreds of pages long, were subjected to my eagle eye. I edit manuscripts for both American and Canadian publishers, and I've worked with authors from around the world including Greece, Brazil, Abu Dhabi, Scotland, and New Zealand. Specialty areas are speculative / science fiction, fantasy, and historical fiction but all genres, forms, and lengths are welcome; I've worked on everything from autobiography to children's to western, from cover letters to press releases, from trade nonfiction to math textbooks. If you'd like to do some independent investigation, my online directory listing with the Editors' Association of Canada can be viewed here, or you can see a sample of my editorial work online at Rosedog.com's "Meet the Professionals" section. for my full list of editing and writing credits. |
